It was considered that this portrait image of the future president got immediate recognition to Jim Fitzpatrick's Che Guevara poster and thus the public was able to connect easily to it. The Obama Hope image became a best seller at almost all poster stores and art stores across the USA, Europe, India and other Asian countries. Such was its persona that after Obama becoming the president of United States the image was acquired by Smithsonian Institution for its National Portrait Gallery.
He also pressed the president to push the Democratic-controlled Senate to adopt House Republican initiatives, including legislation that would give Congress veto power over certain high-cost regulations.
Pelosi was also quite piqued over Obamas decision to push the Senate health care bill into the House even though she had told him in private that it had no chance to pass. Said one top Democratic official in the House, "What youre seeing now in public has been building in private. House members did their work they did everything the president asked of them. And it gets stuck in the Senate. Or the Senate screws it up." Strong words indeed, as it sounds that not only are Obama and the House at odds, but so are the Democratic-controlled House and Senate. Somewhere, congressional Republicans are sniggering and thinking, "you wanted ityou got it."
