Jackie

I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and lived there up until about 3 years ago when I moved to Missouri. I’ve always been quite artistically talented and determined to translate that talent into tattooing. When Gerry decided to take me on as his shop helper I leapt with joy. I worked on the weekends and after school for just over a year before becoming his apprentice at the tender age of 16. Because of my prior experience in the studio I was able to progress quickly, and continue to do so. I find the act of tattooing to be gross, disturbing, fun, and I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I really enjoy doing designs that are bold and bright. I like it when a design just jumps out at you. My real joy comes from doing custom work though. Tattoos need to have as much personality as the person who wears them. Doing a custom design is a great way for both the artist and the customer to put something of themselves into an image and get something truly unique. I also enjoy the challenge of trying to get into a person’s head and pull out the image that they had envisioned. I’d like to think that I can draw absolutely anything (and I can) but every now and again someone shoots me a good challenge. It keeps things interesting.

I have won numerous awards for my artwork in all mediums. My talents are mainly in photo-realistic portraits, pencil, pen and ink, and cartooning. But I also enjoy trying out other mediums such as clothing, pottery, painting (oil and acrylic), commercial art, mixed media, sculpture, and any thing else that strikes my fancy. I’m a regular Renaissance woman. I plan on staying on here at Ozark Ink until I graduate in 2003. As much as I love Gerry and this shop I think that I would do well to move to a larger city for college and work. Oh, and for future reference, I’m a Scorpio and I enjoy long walks on rainy days.
